TANNAHILL WEAVERS
The Tannahill Weavers are one of Scotland 's premier traditional bands. Their diverse repertoire spans the centuries with fire-driven instrumentals, topical songs, and original ballads and lullabies. Their music demonstrates to old and young alike the rich musical heritage of the Celtic people. These versatile musicians have received worldwide accolades consistently over the years for their exuberant performances and outstanding recording efforts that seemingly can't get better...yet continue to do just that.
The Tannahills have turned their acoustic excitement loose on audiences with an electrifying effect. They have that unique combination of traditional melodies, driving rhythmic accompaniment, and rich vocals that make their performances unforgettable. Over the years the Tannies have been international trailblazers for scottish music, and their tight harmonies and powerful, inventive arrangements have won them fans from beyond the folk and Celtic music scenes. They are firmly established as one of the premier groups on the concert stage. From reflective ballads to footstomping reels and jigs, the variety and range of the material they perform is matched only by their enthusiasm and lively Celtic spirits.
"An especially eloquent mixture of the old and the new." New York Times

TIRIODH
‘Tiriodh’ are a young ceilidh band based in central Fife. The band is made up of four cousins, Scot Wilson (18), Craig McNicol (16), and their younger brothers, Niall Wilson (14) and Ross McNicol (12). They formed in 2001 while on an annual family holiday to the Hebridean island of Tiree, which is where the band name comes from, as ‘Tiriodh’ is Gaelic for Tiree. The band is mainly influenced by west coast music, a major contributor being the Tiree band ‘Skipinnish’. There is also a small wealth of musical experience within the band itself. Scot attended the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music for two years, and is currently studying Folk & Traditional music at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Craig is an active member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland as well as Methil and District Pipe Band. The two younger members also regularly compete in the Pipe band at Grade 3 level in National and International competitions. ‘Tiriodh’ has performed at ceilidhs and other functions up and down the country, and has twice been invited to play at the “Festival de la Saint Loup” in Brittany, France. They also hope to produce a CD at some point in the near future.
